Revelation 7:14 

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
If you're read anything about end times, it's likely you conflate "The Great Tribulation" as that last 3.5 year period where all literal Hell breaks loose on earth. I think we've been dogmatized! Changing your understanding of this phrase opens Revelation in a whole new way. The first 8 Chapters of Revelation, with this new understanding, can be read in a clear, cohesive framework that doesn't leave you guessing.
