Listen "Not So Fast"
Episode Synopsis
In our modern culture, it seems that we are rediscovering the physical benefits of fasting. Unfortunately, how we look in the mirror can take more precedence in our daily lives than how we look spiritually. Yes, there are physical benefits to fasting and even if you focus on the spiritual, you will see the physical benefits. But remember where Jesus words about fasting are in the bible? Matthew 6:16-18 is in the Sermon on the Mount. Fasting spiritually puts you deeper in prayer and provides a deeper recognition of your dependence on the Father.
You know? maybe if prayer itself helped us lose weight, we'd do it more often. But if you did it for that reason, do you really think God would listen? Let's understand the spiritual nature of fasting and reset our why on the Father, not the mirror.
You will find some decent guidelines and fasting plans in the notes if you want to dig deeper.
