Over the last few weeks the third and fourth graders have been working on a group research project in Native Peoples. This unit we studied three Mesoamerican civilizations called the Olmec, Maya and Aztec. Each group had to research various facts about the assigned civilizations by using resources such as the internet and books found at the Sunnyside Public Library. Together they worked on a poster where all the information was put into detailed paragraphs describing the various elements of the civilization like agriculture, homes, beliefs, art, clothing and games.

For our final group, Ada and Gabriel were assigned the categories of agriculture, traditions and beliefs and well as fun and games. They found out a lot about the slash and burn technique to nourish the soil for crops.
