Meditating on a negative situation can cause a person to experience the emotion of anger. When this emotion is not addressed, it can turn into sinful actions that not only impacts the person, but other individuals. We are called not to sin from this emotion, but to truly operate in self-control through the word of God. It’s important to acknowledge anything in our hearts that is not of God so that true freedom and inner healing can take place. God wants us to be at a place of peace and joy not bitterness and anger which produces negative fruit.

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:26, 29-32‬ ‭
