Psyche by Molière (1622 - 1673)

Por: LibriVox
This is a very different Moliere, not the usual satire of everyday life. It is instead a classical tale based on the ancient story of Psyche and Cupid, and was performed for Louis XIV with ballet interludes to music by Jean-Baptiste Lully (which we do not include here) in 1671. - Summary by ToddHWCast list:Jupiter: alanmapstoneVenus: Eva DavisLove; Cupid in Prologue: Tomas PeterZephyr: alanmapstoneAegiale, a Grace: Crln Yldz KsrPhaëne, a Grace: Sandra SchmitThe King: alanmapstonePsyche: Leanne YauAglaura: TJ BurnsCidippe: SoniaCleomenes, a prince, Psyche's lover: MajorToastAgenor, a prince, Psyche's lover: Rob MarlandLycas, captain of the guards: Zames CurranRiver God: alanmapstoneCupid: Eva DavisFlora: FoonNymph, chorus of divinities: AvaillePalemon, god of streams: alanmapstoneVertumnus, god of trees and fruit: NemoVulcan: NemoFirst Man: NemoSecond Man: Stefan Von BlonWoman: April6090Stage Directions and Editing: ToddHW
