His research focus is the development of virtual tissue models of disease, by combining biomedical imaging, computational modelling and machine learning. He did a physics PhD with the Institute for Cancer Research followed by a postdoc before moving to University College London (UCL). He is a Wellcome Senior Research Fellow. In 2023 with Rebecca Shipley he established the Centre for Computational Medicine.
