As the Phillies head out to thier home away from home and the Boston Red Sox are elimnated from the postseason, things in Phillies land are getting quiet in a quick way. The Phils did give everyone something to cheer about down the stretch fighting the Astros untill the bitter end. However, you can never let a postseason birth in the hands of another NL team especially if it is the Cubs. Things didn't work out, and now Houston is looking to Atlanta and then probably St. Louis to continue thier jouney to the World Series.A good year for the Phils no doubt, some very positive things down the stretch. Jon Lieber pitched like an ace after struggling for most of the summer, Ryan Howard is a front runner for rookie of the year, Brett Myers surprised most as he is starting to come into his own. I think one of the most positive aspects was the electrifying performance of Jimmy Rollins in the month of September. With a new Phillies record for consecutive hitting streaks and the longest in the MLB since Luis Castillo a few years ago, Rollins had stepped up and proved his worth finishing the season on a strong note and reinforcing his job as a leadoff hitter.One more episode of Phillies Weekly will be coming your way.
