Joshua succeeded Moses as leader of the people of Israel where he served as a military general, administrative leader, and religious prophet for the fledgling nation. He led the people through numerous successful military campaigns in which they secured the land that God promised them following their rescue from Egypt and though the book of Joshua is full of many difficult stories of military conquest, it also exemplifies a man of determined commitment to God and his commandments.
