The recognition that it must draw on fundamental roots comes from ככל הגוים appears so obtrusively in מצוות מנוי מלך and means that the development of מלכות ישראל is in terms of its most fundamental roots its sensitivity to life to evil and its need to expunge all that is antithetical to life from within itself in order to be itself!
