A few weeks ago, we welcomed Erin Mathis to the Noobs show. Among the things we covered in that episode was the trail that she runs and she mentioned a young man, taking her trail by storm! Tonight, We welcome that young man, Wyatt Connelly and his father Rich to the Noobs show.
Wyatt had been fishing the junior trail for several years and dominating it. Wyatt made a deal with his dad, Rich, that if he would try the adult trail and if he finished in the top 10 in his first tournament, that his dad would continue to allow him to compete. He did just that, finishing in the top 10 in his first tournament. And he didn't stop there! In just his third tournament in the adult trail, in a field of 45 anglers, he took first place!
We get introduced to Wyatt and his father Rich. We learn how they both got started fishing and what led Wyatt to wanting to compete. We talk to Ryan about his favorite techniques, here a few stories of his catches, and also hear from him what he would tell other youth anglers about how to start fishing in tournaments and what helped improve his skills!
We also talk to Wyatt about his future plans and how far he hopes to go in the sport of kayak fishing.
