Listen "Birth Story Pt. 2 - When Our Birth Plan Flipped Upside Down - Breech Baby, Spontaneous Labor, Emergency C-section"

Episode Synopsis

I am sharing my wild Birth Story in hopes of connecting with and relating to other moms who's Birth Plan took some wild unexpected twists and turns. Please comment below or DM me on Instagram, I would love to hear your story! I hope my vulnerability of sharing the details of my story help you feel that you're not alone, and an unexpected Birth Story is more common than people talk about. After 9 months of planning for an unmedicated home birth, we found out at 41 weeks pregnant that our daughter was breech. This left very little time for interventions that could encourage her to flip head down for a safe vaginal delivery. We tried everything possible, and even found a midwife in South FL that would be willing to deliver her breech. We planned to make the trip South as soon as possible, when I ended up going into spontaneous labor that progressed quickly, and the road trip began to seem impossible. PART 2 of my Birth Story includes the moment where I ultimately had to make the tough decision to transfer to the hospital while in transition and feeling the urge to push, leading my while Birth Team to believe I'd end up delivering my baby in the car. Thankfully we arrived to the hospital, made it to the OR, and within 15 minutes my daughter was born. This episode includes my husband and I speaking about what we learned throughout this journey, and what tidbits of advice we'd give to other couples preparing for birth... that sometime just doesn't go as planned! We reflect on how we processed our chaotic Birth Story, and still managed to find peace. Huge shout out to Fadwah Halaby at Midwife360 in West Palm Beach, FL - even though we never made it to South Florida, and she never made it to us in North Florida, the solutions she offered gave us a hope to hold on to in the toughest moments. If I would not have had the option of delivering my daughter breech, I may have decided to go to the hospital for a C-section sooner, and shorted myself from fully experiencing multiple stages of natural labor. That ended up being a huge blessing as I mentally healed from the chaos, that I was able to feel my body transition through *almost* all the stages of a vaginal delivery. I'm grateful for Fadwah's quick response time and willingness to help 2 complete strangers process the many different options and obstacles being throw at us.
