Listen "18. Facts versus Thoughts"
Episode Synopsis
There are facts of life that can be proven that no one can reasonably disagree with, but we often don't talk about our lives strictly via facts. We don't always get to choose these facts, but we do get to choose what we think, and our brain often confuses facts and thoughts. Our minds often assign meaning to facts in the form of thoughts, but these are just that - thoughts. Our thoughts don't have to be positive all the time, and it's okay to have negative thoughts, but it's helpful to recognize when something is a thought rather than a fact. Stop asking yourself whether or not a thought is true. Simply asking yourself whether or not it serves you to think something. This takes effort because your brain is wired to keep thinking the same things because it deems that safe, but it's so empowering and is worth it. It will help relieve so much anxiety and fear. Show Highlights difference between facts and thoughts how and why our brains often confuse facts and thoughts how to tell the difference and why it's important an example of a client who confused facts and thoughts how confirmation bias plays a role how to determine whether or not a thought is serving you Resources Sheila's Website Email me: [email protected] Our Modern Emotional Lives - 8.
