Listen "The Jesse Tree: The Shepard Boy Who Would Become King"
Episode Synopsis
From the Fields to the Throne - David’s story is a powerful reminder that even though he became Israel’s greatest king, he was never meant to be the ultimate King.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, David defeated the EVIL WITHOUT—standing boldly before Goliath and the Philistines. But years later, on a quiet rooftop in Jerusalem, he was confronted by the EVIL WITHIN—the internal enemies of pride, lust, and self-reliance.
As “a man after God’s own heart,” David’s victories and failures reveal three truths we desperately need today:
1. When David relied on the Holy Spirit, he could defeat both the EVIL WITHOUT and the EVIL WITHIN. When he didn’t, he fell hard.
2. Despite deep failure, David always returned to God through confession and repentance - And you can too!
3. God’s promises never fail. His promise to send a King through David’s line was fulfilled in Jesus—the true Shepherd King who conquers sin and evil forever.
