When I read how Israel had told Moses they did not want God to speak to them directly anymore or to see God's presence as a blazing fire, but they would rather hear God's words spoken through another person, I am baffled. Why would they not want to hear God's voice directly? I guess it would have been pretty scary. I suppose listening to a person speak God's word is easier to take in. Why do you think it is so easy to take the Words of Jesus for granted?
