Dr. Susan Hylen sits down with Dr. Botner to discuss her new book, Finding Phoebe: What New Testament Women Were Really Like. Dr. Hylen's book is a game changer and should be the point of departure for future conversations about the various roles and offices of women in the New Testament.

Dr. Susan E. Hylen is Almar H. Shatford Professor of New Testament at Candler School of Theology, Emory University. She has authored two books on the history of women in the New Testament and early church, which offer a new way of interpreting the diverse and often contradictory evidence about the participation of women. She is also the author of three books on the Gospel of John, as well as a number of other book chapters, essays and articles. Her current research explores the social construction of gender in the New Testament period.
Dr. Hylen also serves the Candler community and the academy, contributing to several committees, advisory and editorial boards, including a role as general editor of the Journal of Biblical Literature and as an editor of the New Testament Library. She is a frequent lecturer at church, conference and teaching events. She is a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
