Listen "Oklahoma's Playoff Hopes Hinge on Weekend Games"
Episode Synopsis
On November seventh, college football fans are buzzing about the latest playoff rankings. The Oklahoma Sooners, currently ranked number twelve, are on a bye week, but their path to the twelve-team playoff picture is becoming clearer. They are currently the second team just outside the playoff spots, making every game this weekend crucial for their chances. The initial rankings sparked some debate, especially with Notre Dame, also with two losses, placed above the Sooners. Many felt Notre Dames weaker schedule didnt justify their higher ranking. This Saturday, Notre Dame faces a tough Navy team, which has only one loss. A third loss for Notre Dame would likely remove them from playoff contention, which would be good news for Oklahoma. Meanwhile, other key matchups could impact the Sooners. Texas Tech, ranked number eight, hosts number seven BYU in a significant Big twelve conference game. If BYU wins, it could make the Big twelve a one-bid conference, potentially opening a spot for Oklahoma. However, a Texas Tech victory would keep both teams ahead of the Sooners with just one loss each. Over in the Pac twelve, number nine Oregon, with one loss, plays number twenty Iowa. Oregon previously lost to Indiana, their only ranked opponent so far. Another loss against a ranked team could make Oklahomas two-loss record look more favorable in comparison, potentially moving the Sooners up. Finally, number three Texas A and M plays number twenty-two Missouri. While this game doesnt directly affect Oklahomas immediate standing, a Missouri win would keep them ranked for their upcoming game against the Sooners later this month, which would boost Oklahomas strength of schedule. The Daily News Now! - Every city.
