Prayer is a personal way of we talking to God directly that is why the teachings of Jesus Christ on prayers is how we can pray one on one with God pouring out our hearts to God in those areas we are deeply pained and need help. Jesus warns us about prayers from repetitions too, some churches do it, they have prayer books and tell you to pray from there, don't spend all your time praying from repetitions in books, pray from your heart, that is the acceptable way to God. Reference God as your heavenly Father, confess your sins, ask for blessings that make you contented and not the one that wants to collect even from those that don't have to add to yours, pray against evil and ask for grace to forgive those who wrong you. Same with fasting, God wants us to do it secretly because it is also a way of consecrating ourselves before God and seeking more of God and more from God. The God who hears in secret will answer us openly. Amen
