Listen "Episode 7: The devil is in the tax details"
Episode Synopsis
Last week the Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana delivered the Budget Speech. There was a lot of comment and I think that most analysts thought that the Minister struck the right balance between a little extra spending, a little tax relief, and managing the budget deficit and debt burden. There are risks, but at least there is nothing we did not already know about.
From a tax perspective, a lot less was said in the budget speech and in the analysis afterwards. So Prof Krugell called a tax expert to get some insight into the issues. I asked Dirk Kotze of Tributum Consulting for some of his views per voice note.
Listen to his views on the reduction of the corporate tax rate, the tax treatment of emigrants and immigrants, and high-net-worth individuals.
