Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, faces federal charges for the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Ukrainian woman Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light rail system on August 22, 2025. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in North Carolina charged him with an act causing death on mass transportation, making him eligible for the death penalty, the Justice Department announced on September 9. The incident has heightened concerns about public transit safety.2. Deadly clashes erupted in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Monday between police and ‘Gen-Z’ protesters after a government ban blocked 26 social media platforms. Protesters set fire to the parliament building and homes of high-ranking politicians. The unrest reflects growing tensions over digital restrictions in the capital.3. Kim Jong Un oversaw North Korea’s ninth test of a solid-fuel rocket engine for ICBMs on September 8, 2025, producing 1,971 kilonewtons of thrust, enhancing its ability to strike the U.S. mainland. The test, following Kim’s attendance at a Beijing military parade, underscores North Korea’s advancing missile technology. Solid-fuel engines allow faster deployment and are harder to detect.4. U.S. high school seniors’ math and reading scores have dropped significantly, with reading skills hitting a record low since 1992, per federal data released on September 9, 2025. Thirty-two percent of 12th graders scored below basic reading levels, up from 20% in 1992, while only 35% showed proficient reading skills. The decline highlights challenges in education outcomes.Let’s pray…Thank you for listening to News on Knees, a community prayer podcast by Story King Media. If you want to join the movement, I’m calling all believers, anyone who wants to pray for the world, their country, their region, a specific societal issue.
