During his career, he toured three wars, ultimately leading a team of SEALs into Afghanistan. Shea earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star for valor, and multiple commendation medals for valor. He was selected to lead the famed SEAL sniper course and was principal leader of research and development for the SEALs.
