Here we find that no matter what the narrative of a person's life has been, it can be different through Jesus. No one has to live a life of condemnation and uselessness. When we come to Jesus we receive honor, purpose, and the ability to say no to unhelpful things and yes to helpful things as we learn to be with him, be like him, and do what he did.
