We have it inside us. It was given to us by the Father, he lives inside us. If we are children of the light, and we do not have darkness is us, why is it so easy to feed our flesh?  We all perceive ourselves to be good people. But sometimes it's ego driven, we want to look good, feel good. But "doing good to look good" is almost like a double negative. You can't do good, to be praised. You must do good because it's who you are.  We need to start carrying a new identity. Stop telling yourself you are a person that does good because it's what you should do. We need to start carrying ourselves with the identity of "A child of the Light" we are children of God.  We don't do good because it's the right thing to do.  We do good because it's who we are. We were born with love and light inside us. Together we can shed light in this dim world.
