The 7 F's to Flourish:
Number one is Fountain. Water is so important. Your body's like 72% water. You want to be drinking at least 0.6 times your body weight water per day. We like to do warm lemon water with a little sea salt first thing in the morning. It helps with detoxification, it helps with digestion, it helps with a little bit of vitamin C.
Number two is Fiber. The second most important thing is fiber. The average American gets on average10 grams of fiber per day. Men need 40, women need nearly 32. When you’re getting less, you don't have enough scrub brushes to scrub through your digestive tract to keep it clean. Your digestion will be impeded and slowed down which causes issues like constipation.
Number three is Fat. Fat has nine calories per gram versus a carbohydrate which has four and protein which has four. It has a lot of good energy and is a great slow burning energy. With healthy amounts of fat, you're not having the ups and downs of sugar up, sugar spike, sugar crash. Fat is very consistent, stable and essential for life! To live, cells in your body need fat.
Number four is Fasting. For most people a typical fasting window is 16:8- you fast for 16 hours, including 6-8 hours that you are sleeping and then eat in an 8-hour window. This window can be moved around based on your schedule. Some experts suggest even starting with a 12-hour one week, moving down to 10 and then to 8 so it’s an adjustment. What you’re fueling with when breaking your fast is PURE nutrition.
Number is Fungus. Yeast is a fungus. Yeast is in most baked goods. And fungus is also ever present in the atmosphere. Fungus is in the air; yeast is in the air. If you literally take a lump of anything, like food-wise, or baked goods and put it up there, it's going to attract yeast. Yeast is in the life cycle. So, yeast's job is to break things down. And that's good. You want yeast breaking things down in the foods. You want a constant cycle of life. Fungus's job is to break stuff down.
Number six is Floss. Here we are actually talking about the benefits of flossing. Your periodontal health is connected to your overall health. Your mouth is one of 6 mucous membranes in your body and it’s incredibly permeable to what crosses it. Following your meal, you want to get what’s left behind. In a high fiber diet, there is lots of crunching going on and there will be substantial food left behind.
7.) Lastly, number seven is Fitness. There is a reason that we left fitness at the very end because it’s actually the least important if your gut health is not good.
