Listen "EP 16.0: Hawaii 6 Nebraska 0"
Episode Synopsis
This episode includes stories about Hawaii and Hawaii football. I look at the history of challenges people faced while traveling to and from Hawaii. I take a look at the football teams who came to Hawaii in 1941 and then had their seasons and lives changed by the bombing of Pearl Harbor and WW2. Finally I talk about the game between Nebraska and Hawaii in 1955 and why this game is part of why I still have hope for Nebraska to return to the top of the College Football world.Follow me @MoreImportantThingsPod on InstagramOr follow my blog: MoreImportantThings.blogEmail me at [email protected] with any questions, comments, or if you would to recommend a topic for me to cover in a future episode.Additional Reading:"Sea People" by Christina Thompson"Scrimmage for War" by Bill McWilliamsQuotes from:https://www.coloradoan.com/story/sports/csu/football/2017/09/29/csu-football-first-trip-hawaii-harrowing-13-day-journey/714730001/https://www.smithsonianmag.com/air-space-magazine/hawaii-air-180952756/#:~:text=It%20wasn't%20until%201936,passengers%20on%20the%20first%20flightThe Omaha World Herald's Archive on the story from 1955.
