Listen "Disorder"
Episode Synopsis
The purpose of Scripture is to help us know God and be more like Him (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Transformation is often easier said than done, however. When we come to challenging passages as we read in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, we often want to fill the understanding gap with our ideas or the interpretations of our culture rather than sit with the text and allow it to transform us. Upon further digging, we see that Paul wasn’t just speaking about gender roles to subjugate women. He reinforced the truth of God’s design for unity, interdependence, order, and value for everyone in His Kingdom. Unfortunately, this verse has been extracted from the other verses that provide the context for God's beautiful blessing for us.
