President Barack Obama recently named Sept. 18 to 24 National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week. The week serves as a tribute to employers of Guardsmen and reservists whose support and flexibility is vital to the strength of our military. Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a resource and advocate for civilian military employers. They educate employers about military service and facilitate employment transitions during deployments. ESGR also recognizes employers through awards programs such as the Defense Department Freedom Award -- the highest-level recognition to businesses that support service members.
