Listen "Chapter Break with Rita Williams Atkinson"
Episode Synopsis
BIO:Born and raised in Wisconsin, the author developed her passion for writing in sixth grade, courtesy of a first-year teacher’s creative writing assignment. The assignment was to write and illustrate a children’s book. The assignment was considered a big deal by the local newspaper, including a front-page article with pictures. The writing bug had bitten. Writing remained as an infrequent hobby through college, marriage, raising two children, and a demanding career as a public servant. When life allowed time to focus on her writing again, Rita returned to it like she was reuniting with a childhood friend she thought had been lost.SYNOPSIS:Little Margaret Nolan was born into poverty and struggle in Ireland. This is the story of the trials she encountered and the obstacles she overcame to recreate herself. We follow Margaret through her multiple identities and adventures as she makes her way to America and finds her way in her new home. It's a story of growing up and finding your place in the world, with subplots of the complex relationships between mothers and daughters and the struggles women experienced in the late 1800s and early 1900s.LINKS:Website: rwawrites.com
