Acute Trauma Definition: A single, intensely distressing event. Examples:• A car accident• A sudden loss• A natural disaster• Being a victim of violence How it shows up: Shock, fear, intrusive memories, avoidance.⸻2. Chronic Trauma Definition: Repeated, prolonged exposure to highly stressful events.
