I think most of us massively overestimate how quickly we can really install new habits.
From what I've seen, most people approach habit change from a "one to two week" sort of mindset.
They go hard for a few days and then gradually taper off to almost nothing by week two.
The truth of the matter is that most real habit change takes anywhere from 1-6 months depending on how significant the change is.
Starting a gym routine or diet might be a one or two-month affair until it gets locked in (it will likely take longer to get the big results though).
Quitting porn or some significant addiction is in the three-month-plus category.
The problem is that this reality can be disheartening when you are hoping for an overnight transformation.
But once you abandon childish fantasies, you can embrace the truth that you can MASSIVELY improve your life in one year, and COMPLETELY TRANSFORM IT IN THREE.
For example:
Y1: Quit porn, develop a fitness habit, improve your diet
Y2: Cut out videogames & BS time wasters, start building a side business, begin networking/dating
Y3: Go full time into your side business and start optimizing and tweaking the stuff you’ve already got going
In three years, you could completely transform your body, your career, your income, and your relationships.
Abandon the “quick fix” mentality and start laying out your transformation!
