Professor Jeffrey David Sachs is a leading American economist named as one of the Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine (2004 & 2005). A graduate from Havard University, he currently heads the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University. Professor Sachs is also renowned for his work on sustainable development, economic development, and the fight to end poverty, having served under multiple United Nations Secretary Generals on various special advisory roles. Most recently, Professor Sachs is an SDG Advocate for United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Professor Sachs also writes a monthly foreign affairs column for Project Syndicate, a nonprofit association of newspapers around the world that is circulated in 145 countries. He is also a frequent contributor to such major publications as the Financial Times, Scientific American, Time and The Huffington Post.
