Who Is Neil Patel? Neil Patel is a New York Times bestselling author. He was recognized as a top 100 entrepreneur under the age of 30 by President Obama and a top 100 entrepreneur under the age of 35 by the United Nations.     The Dream Neil started trying to find a  six-figure job online. Seeing that they were hard to come by, he notices that Monster.com was a publicly traded company that was doing millions in revenue. So he decided to replicate a similar job board himself called AdviceMonekey.com  and waited for the money to start flowing in.   You Need To Attract Traffic To Your Site That's when Neil realized that the best site still needs really strong marketing behind it, to drive traffic to the site. After hiring and being ripped off by several expensive marketing firms, Neil decided that it was time to learn this stuff himself. Once he realized that he was really good at marketing and was doing well himself, Neil started doing this full time for others too.   Did you benefit from your College education? College didn't really help me at all, it slowed me down. I'm learning more now by jumping right into entrepreneurship. 73% of all college graduates are not working in an area related to their degree within 10 years of graduating. That means that your degree will probably not be the way you earn your livelihood for most of your life! The notion that baby boomers have been pushing on their children that a great education and lots of hard work will guarantee your success in the business world is no longer relevant or true. Today's market is constantly changing with each new technological advance and yesterday's knowledge is no longer relevant. Employers care more about employees soft skills than their formal education. They want to be able to train new team members quickly to work their way and fit into the company culture.   Marketing Today Marketing now is a multi-channel approach. Whereas in the past your goal was basically to rank well on search engines, nowadays, you will need to do well in lots of other areas too to ensure success. Because the markets are so much more competitive and saturated, you need to focus on multiple levels and do them or well in order to be successful. These channels include: Organic search Paid search Social media Podcasting Respond and genuinely care about your customers (you can't fake authenticity) Videos Create a brand and connection with your audience Using all of these channels successfully will make you successful. Easier said than done though.   Online Marketing School Marketing School brings you 10 minutes of actionable marketing advice every single day. Neil explains that he doesn't have one particular person that serves as his mentor. Instead, the world is full of his mentors. Namely, Google, YouTube and anyone else who shares valuable information online. You can learn from the greatest business minds in the world like Elon Musk online. Best of all, it's free and they are happy and excited to share it with you. No mentor - learn through experience and learning online/ youtube etc. You don't necessarily need a mentor, Google and YouTube are great mentors. You can learn from Elon Musk online too and it's free and you don't even need to know him!     5 Practical Tips To Promote Your Online Content Use BuzzSumo to find keywords and influencers in your industry. View shares numbers for each piece of content. Manually ask them to share your content. This is tedious but it works. You will need to send out hundreds of emails to make this work and you will see people will start sharing your content. less than 30% will share your content. Hunter.io - Great tool to discover email addresses   If you want a quick fix, this is not for you. What's separates the top tier marketers from the second tier of online marketers? Creativity - There's is so much competition out there, so you need to think outside of the box. Only those with the best content will ultimately win. Execution - if you have creativity and execution then you're golden. There's no point in all the complex online tools (many of which are free!) if you don't take action. Give away a free tool and collect leads - as opposed to paid ads. This is the way to have an edge up on the competition without having such a strong budget. You need to go out there and execute. There's nothing you can read to help you out. You need to get out there and experience in order to get you there.   Follow Neil!
