Episode Synopsis
This episode will focus on kindness to ourselves and others. Self-kindness is treating ourselves with compassion, showing interest in ourselves and wholeheartedly accepting who we are. The outcome is increased happiness and a positive outlook. It boosts self-esteem and gives us a sense of belonging to ourselves. When we are kind to ourselves we show others how to treat us. These acts of self-kindness teach others how to be kind to themselves. When we are kind to ourselves, we honor and respect ourselves without the need for approval and pleasing others at our expense. We set healthy boundaries and allow others to grow. The more kind we are to ourselves, we can genuinely show acts of kindness to others. Dr. Jean Marie highlights ways of demonstrating kindiness including: Stepping beyond our comfort zone, Wholehearted connections through worthiness and Creative expressions of kindness. During these times we may need support from others. Whether living alone or with others, many feel disconnected, vulnerable and suffer in quiet desperation. Reaching out to those in need connects us to our human family. We are all worthy. Expressions of loving-kindness may be shown or revealed by quiet prayer, a gentle smile, heartfelt wish, and physical acts of extending a helping hand. We are all connected and acts of loving-kindness are forever remembered. The freedom to be who we truly are as divine beings releases fear and opens our hearts. The human bond of kindness is expressed through the arts and reinforces our human connection. Cultural arts awaken our senses and opens our hearts. It brings happiness despite differences. Creative arts are heartfelt and natural ways of sharing our gifts and talents. Loving-kindness is our natural state. How we treat others is a reflection of how we treat ourselves. Being kind to ourselves is paramount and only to the extent we express this ingredient of love to ourselves, is the extent to which we can express it to others. Our 'Love in Action' practice includes two parts: Part One - Journal on being kind to yoruself. This ingredient of love supports our wellbeing. Throughout the day watch your thoughts and self-talk. Are you being kind to yourself? Take time to reflect and gain insight on the stream of thoughts. Part Two - Find ways to treat yourself kindly and journal on how it makes you feel.
