Listen "First Times: Moses Fleetwood Walker"
Episode Synopsis
In today's Love Letters to... we celebrate the man who first, if only briefly, broke baseball's color barrier, Moses Fleetwood Walker. His single season with the Toledo Bluestockings in 1884 was met with predictable resistance, even from his own teammates. He went on to lead a life notable for its achievements as well as its setbacks, but his trailblazing has been largely forgotten since his death in 1924.
