From the dawn of time people have used some form of money to assist with economic exchanges. It was not always money as we envision it, but mankind has always traded goods and services and always had a way to facilitate these trades. Most of the time currency has been just another barter item, like gold, given mercantile value. But money does not have value it is just a unit of account. Creating money out of barter goods creates the economic problems we are more than familiar with, such as unemployment, inflation and debt. By learning what money is and how to create it without digitalizing a commodity, we can eliminate the social costs created by barter forms of money.
