It may seem an unnecessary question with only one possible response. But then we are faced with a slew of past technologies modern man is unable to replicate. Despite the technologies we have developed we are also aware that the roots and foundation of these technologies were all developed by our ancestors. What we moderns do is make incremental improvements to the fundamental inventions that were created by people long dead. But these are subjective impressions. Even were we to believe the ancients had superior genes and organs how would we measure the intelligence of people who are no more and cultures that have little in common with out own? Perhaps our ancestors knew how which is why they set us up for success, a success we moderns with our lowered abilities are compromising.
