Listen "Tap Tap Revolution"
Episode Synopsis
Here’s a third recent project to round out this little mini series of “What has Louie been up to?”
Tap Tap Revolution. Yeah.
Three comps of a theoretical new version of Tap Tap Revolution: its menu, a transition to gameplay, and its iconic red-green-blue tracks.
Blast from the past, right? My old boss, Bart Decrem, came to me a little while ago with a wild proposition. What if they remade Tap Tap Revenge today? The original App Store hit. What would it look like? Would it be Tap Tap Revolution, its original jailbreak-era name?
What a fun thought. I took it in earnest and designed what I think it would look like today, taking it back to the roots of the product, incorporating modern design sensibilities (and also reflections of my own growth as a designer).
A lot has changed since 2008. Our phones got taller, bigger in general. The height of the tapping area along the bottom would probably have to be taller to compensate for the size and weight of phones today. But wouldn’t it be super cool if it was all pulled off really well?
I want to play a new version of the app that made the iPod touch the funnest iPod ever.
