Listen ""Different Tools, Different Rules". A Conversation with Arjan Meijer"
Episode Synopsis
Arjan's youtube channel is one I've watched with interest over the years, and highly recommend. Not afraid to try new things, and adapting them to work for him, he exemplifies the concept, I've heard called "Principles vs Practices".I've come to suspect that many in the strength training community suffer from "confirmation bias", immediately rejecting anything that doesn't fit with their current paradigm of "how things should be done".To me, evidence of this, is when I see someone criticized when their methods agree with 70-95% of a like minded individual, but that individual fails to acknowledge the areas of alignment, but instead, jumps all over what they feel is "wrong". Others will definitely disagree, but I've come to suspect this may be at the root of why "HIT" or "rational exercise" or "evidence based training" (I hate labels, choose yours) has failed to make it into the mainstream.Arjan on the other hand, doesn't get caught up in hair splitting arguments, and just quietly does his thing getting great results in the process.Look for "Arjan Meijer H.I.T."
