Listen "Your Purpose In Life"
Episode Synopsis
I routinely think about just what my purpose in life is, so a few days ago I wrote up the following. I offer it to you here as something for you to reflect on.
In Colossians 1:15-16 (NET) with reference to Christ, we read, 15 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, 16 for all things in heaven and on earth were created in him—all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers—all things were created through him and for him.”
So you have been created through Christ Jesus and for him.
Hence, your ultimate purpose in life is found in living out what for him means, that is, by responding to his intention in creating you.
What was his intent?
To please his Father by giving himself in every way to see you (and all creation) full of his Father’s life / his Father’s glory.
And what is his Father’s life/glory?
Pure and total self-giving helpfulness.
Hence, the more you respond to Jesus’ influence on your thoughts, the more of the Father’s life or glory fills you — which is to say — the more his pure, self-giving helpfulness flows into you and through you.
So just what influence is Jesus presently having on your thoughts? What do you know he’s saying to you? How are you responding? I’m suggesting that therein lies your purpose in life.
