Listen "What God Blesses"
Episode Synopsis
When it comes to our Christian faith and practice, it seems to me that one of the most troubling and distracting of all presuppositions is this: only when things look just so, are prayed just so or said just so, are done just so, does the grace or power of God flow.
Such assertions seem to fly in the face of the fact that when Jesus helped people, his help was tailor made to meet the need each person had right then. He didn’t even heal blind people in a set way. Sadly, as his disciples we all too easily believe that only upon doing things this or that way will God grant his blessing.
It is better, I think, to remember that God only blesses what Jesus is doing. However, Jesus is ever present with us and is most willing to reveal to us what he is doing situation by situation and how to work with him so that we can follow suit.
