In Joshua 24:15 — Joshua confronted God’s people saying “…If serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
It’s interesting to note that the choice Joshua puts before the people is not a choice between the Lord or other gods, but rather that if they reject the Lord, they must choose between those other gods.
That suggests to me that if we turn away from the one true and living God, life becomes confusing and complicated — what god will we then serve?
