Listen "One Supreme Commitment"
Episode Synopsis
Someone has said, “The one supreme business of life is to find God’s plan for your life and live it.” (E Stanley Jones)
With the first of yet another new year fast upon us, could you readily answer the question, “What is God’s plan for your life?”
The apostle Paul certainly could, and does so in various ways through out his writings. Here’s one example: 13 “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single-minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead, 14 with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (NET 2nd Ed.)
He says lot here that needs to be deciphered, but this much is clear — he was doing everything he could to obtain a prize he believed God had in mind to give him. He calls it “the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
So what would you say constitutes the upward call of God in your life? If you are unsure as to what that is, I strongly encourage you to talk to the Lord about it. Let’s begin the new year with that life goal in sharp focus. Then God’s Spirit can use it to help us constantly discriminate between what behaviors will get us closer to our goal and which ones won’t.
