Episode Synopsis

Consider the following verses and ask yourself: just what is meant by the word “life”?
Psalm 16:11 — “You show me the path of life, in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
John 1:4  — “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”
John 8:12 — “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
So what is meant by that word “life”? I offer the following definition for you to think about:
“Life” is God’s power at work in the world to bring people to the fulfillment of their purpose, the purpose of having been created “for him” — that is, for friendship with Jesus.
Jesus also said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6
If we apply the definition I suggested then Jesus is saying, at least in part, I am God’s power at work in the world to bring people to the fulfillment of their purpose, the purpose of having been created for friendship with me.
