Listen "Grow Your Capacity"
Episode Synopsis
Luke 6:38
"Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure — pressed down, shaken together, and running over — will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Mark 4:24,25
"And he said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”
2 Corinthians 9:6
"The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully."
Here's an application: every time we do something—anything—out of Christ's love for someone, He increases our capacity to do more of the same.
Think the best, highest thoughts you can of others and Christ will make you more capable of such thinking.
Walk in kindness and Christ will make you kinder still.
Be transparent and sincere with others and Christ will make you more so.
Forgive, and He will make you more forgiving.
Consider everyone around you precious and He will deepen your awareness of their value.
Act in gentleness and compassion and Jesus will make you more gentle and compassionate.
Pray and you will pray more, and He will increase your effectiveness in prayer.
Encourage others and Jesus will make you more of an encourager.
Bless others and He will inlay your blessings with more and more of His power to bless.
To sum up, whatever Christ calls you to do—do it in the service of His love for others and your capacity to manifest His love will grow; "a good measure — pressed down, shaken together, and running over — will be poured into your lap."
