Listen "Everlasting Arms"
Episode Synopsis
In Psalms 119:92 (NET) we read, “If I had not found encouragement in your law, I would have died in my sorrow.”
Tragedy and malevolence in life are such that beyond all fear and anger, beyond all disappointment and hurt and even depression, lies that which can only best be referred to as sorrow. It’s beyond the reach of words. You know when it comes, but you cannot explain what it is. It is an emotional dead end of unfathomable sadness. There’s nowhere to go. At least that’s what it feels like.
But there is an answer. Jesus was “a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” No one ever has or ever will know the depths of sorrow his heart felt at all that was and is troubling beyond all words to express. He knows, and we need to know that he knows. Why? Because unless underneath us are everlasting arms our sorrow will leave us with a lifeless existence in this world.
But, praise God, those loving arms are there for us and we find them in Jesus to whom the law, the psalms, and the prophets direct us. He has something to say to you in your sorrow. Read his word. Seek him out for how he intends to comfort you. He understands perfectly how you feel and will be to you precisely what you need.
