Value Bombs 1) Guatemala City is booming economically but this is placing a tremendous strain on its infrastructure – particularly its waste water treatment. 2) The natural aquifers that supply the city with its fresh water are depleting at an alarming rate – best estimates say they will be empty in 20 years – meaning if it carries on like this there will be NO drinking water for the city. 3) Due to the poor quality of the water child mortality is one of the highest in Latin America.
