Episode Synopsis

Sermon Transcript:Thank you, everybody. And, I saw my wife this morning. I was like, man, I don't know why I'm nervous. It's been a joy to be here with you. I've been here six months. Believe it or not, it went by pretty quick. So I want to. I want to do something a little bit different this morning.00;00;16;24 - 00;00;41;20UnknownI'm going to skip ahead on on, where we're at in the sermon on the Mount. I'm going to I'm going to go to the what we know is known as the sermon on the or the the Lord's Prayer. And so with that said, I want to ask you for a personal favor to me. And not only that, I think this will be helpful to Pastor Derek as he comes in.00;00;41;22 - 00;01;19;27UnknownSo if you've given your life to Jesus since September, since I've been here in the last six months, would you just stand right there? Pastor, I got saved while you've been there. Would you stand? Go ahead, everybody stand. Whoever gave your life to Jesus. Okay. Stay standing. Stay standing. Now. If you were baptized in the time that I've been here since September, would you stand?00;01;19;29 - 00;01;37;12UnknownNo. There was more than that. That got baptized November and last week. So also, I want to ask you one more question. If you just started coming to Life Church since September, would you stand?00;01;37;14 - 00;01;44;21UnknownAnd.00;01;44;23 - 00;02;05;09UnknownThank you all very much. You all can have a seat. So I want I want the church that's been here a long time to understand this is not the same church that it was six months ago. God has been on the move and had nothing to do with me and everything to do with him. I just came and told you about who this Jesus was and how he could change your life.00;02;05;12 - 00;02;32;19UnknownAnd it was such an amazing. It's been such an amazing time to see God moving the lives and all those that have been here a while as well. This your words of encouragement. It's just been a lot of fun. Usually when I go and do interim pastor, it's there's some things to fix in between the church, maybe have gone through some hurt or whatever, and I told my wife, it has been such a joy to come here every week because you guys were healthy and are healthy.00;02;32;22 - 00;02;50;13UnknownThat doesn't mean you're a perfect church. Nobody has that church, but God was already doing amazing things and we just came in to help guide that process through. So thank you so much. So, so doesn't matter how much you study the Bible, how much you go to church, how much you raise your hands, and how much you love people.00;02;50;16 - 00;03;16;13UnknownIf you don't pray those things that can't even be done in your own strength. Could you imagine that coming to church in your own strength? You must be a person of prayer. There has to be an opportunity for you to get before a holy God and ask him, how do I do this? It's like George was saying this morning, we're not just raise our hands, we raise our hands in a concert of prayer to say, we love you, God.00;03;16;16 - 00;03;39;21UnknownWe honor you. We worship you. That's what that. That's what we're talking about. We cannot expect God to fulfill his will in our lives if we don't set before him and ask him and commune with him. It's impossible to be a Christian and not pray to the God of heaven. We must pray. He knows everything that we're going to ask even before we ask it.00;03;39;23 - 00;04;02;06UnknownSo I always say, go ahead and ask it. He already knows. Sometimes I hear people say, well, what's the point? If he already knows, why do I need to ask? The real issue is whether you'll obey as you have this time of prayer. Are you going to do what God asks you to do? Because in the middle of that communion with God, in the middle of that prayer, you may be praying for things that are about you and not about him.00;04;02;10 - 00;04;22;18UnknownAnd he may all of a sudden stop you in the middle of your prayer and say, hey, it's not about you. You guys do realize that, right? How many of our prayers are so self-centered instead of God centered, we must pray for God. So the title of my sermon today is praying for the Kingdom. Praying for the Kingdom.00;04;22;20 - 00;04;45;16UnknownMatthew six five through 15. You're going to recognize this text. You're going to recognize the Lord's Prayer or our father or whatever you call it. It's such a well-known part of Scripture, but I think sometimes it's taken very lightly because we repeat it over and over as just an anthem of our our way of saying, this is, this is what we believe in.00;04;45;16 - 00;05;00;14UnknownSo. So I'm going to ask you to do one more thing. We've been had maybe a child dedications. We had some all this, and then we had a time of people standing. But I'm going to ask you to do this. I'm going to take about 30s. I'm going to ask you to do this one thing for me.00;05;00;17 - 00;05;21;12UnknownI want you to pray out loud and thank God for whatever is on your heart right now. And so I'm going to take this time, and we're just going to be still. But I need you to pray out loud. We're gonna have what we call a concert of prayer, and we're going to give this time to God. We're going to give this church to God.00;05;21;12 - 00;05;37;08UnknownWe're going to give your pastor Derek to God. We're going to give your families to God. We're going to give everything that we know. We're going to give it all to God, so that as we go through this service, he's going to speak to us. Okay. So by your heads and prayer if you need to stand, but you just begin.00;05;37;08 - 00;06;12;20UnknownI'm going to we're just going to do it about 30s. So go ahead and pray out loud.00;06;12;22 - 00;06;36;04UnknownNow this is your church. These are your people. Pastor Derek coming is your pastor. Father, we just ask for your Holy Spirit to continue in a mighty wave of what you've already started long ago. Long before the six months that I've been here, that you would just continue for this awareness and this freshness of who you are in their lives.00;06;36;07 - 00;07;01;19UnknownIn Jesus name I pray. Amen. Would you stand with me as we read from God's Word? This is Matthew chapter five, our chapter six, starting in verse five. Remember, all of these words are read. If you were to take out your Bible, you'll see the red letters. These are Jesus's very own words. It says, and when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray.00;07;01;19 - 00;07;28;14UnknownStanding in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received the reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, pray to your father who is unseen. Then your father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like the pagans, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.00;07;28;17 - 00;07;49;10UnknownDo not be like them, for your father knows what you need before you ask him. This is then how you should pray. Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.00;07;49;13 - 00;08;09;17UnknownAnd lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For if you forgive other people, when they sin against to your heavenly father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others of their sins, your father will not forgive you your sins. Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity that we have to talk about prayer in Christ's name.00;08;09;17 - 00;08;34;11UnknownI pray. Amen. Please have a seat. My first point is called Kingdom prayers are not me. Prayers. Kingdom prayers are not me prayers. You see, in Matthew chapter six, verses five through eight is an extension of what was going on. And in Luke's account in chapter 11, verse one of this same sermon on the Mount, he says, the disciples were with him and walking, and they were learning from Jesus who he was.00;08;34;11 - 00;08;57;09UnknownAnd then Jesus was doing his earthly ministry. But they saw Jesus go and spend time with God. And they were wondering, what is it about? What is he doing? And all of a sudden, the disciples who should have been learning this all the time. But they wanted to know one more thing. He said, teacher, would you teach us how to pray?00;08;57;11 - 00;09;23;05UnknownAnd Matthew's account doesn't give that. But this is the same account in Luke chapter 11. So the disciples who were followers of Christ were asking this momentous question teach us how to pray. Jesus, please. We see how you are connected to the father. We want that same thing in our life. And so in Matthew's account, there was this problem of going on with the religious leaders.00;09;23;07 - 00;09;46;22UnknownYou see, they thought that they could give their way into the kingdom. They were big givers. They created many other laws besides the Ten Commandments, so that they could walk around on earth pretending like they didn't sin. And Jesus would hear them as they prayed. And he says, we might ask, what is the Pharisees prayer have to do with my prayer life?00;09;46;24 - 00;10;07;12UnknownBecause if we aren't careful, we too can become a Pharisee, a religious leader in our prayer life. We can be a babbler, and we can start praying for the things that matter to me. Instead of the kingdom of God. You see, it's easy to get bogged down in what's going on in your life. It's like Brother George said this morning, I want to call him a pastor.00;10;07;12 - 00;10;26;23UnknownI'm sure he wouldn't mind that. Pastor George says you could be sick. You could be ill. You don't feel well this morning, but you pick yourself up and you came and you said, I still want to be in your presence, God. And that's what prayer is all about. It's not about you, is it? Jesus says, if you pray or if you give.00;10;26;25 - 00;10;43;24UnknownHe says that when you pray and when you give, he never says, if you pray. He says, when you give, when you pray. And he's directing that teaching at us. We learn from our past mistakes of those who have gone on before us, those who have done it with wrong modem motive. And he says, don't be like them.00;10;43;27 - 00;11;08;27UnknownDon't be like them. What can we learn about what went wrong with the Pharisees as they prayed? Number one, their prayers were centered on attention instead of God. You've heard people pray right? Dear God, we are a humble people. It's like they change their language when they pray. There is nowhere in the Bible that says you have to pray in a certain way.00;11;09;01 - 00;11;27;04UnknownJust be you. Talk to God like you would talk to your spouse or your kid. Well, maybe not your kids, but your your father, your mom. Talk to them as in a normal voice, in a normal tone, and for normal things. And all of a sudden you'll have a real relationship with God instead of this vicious one like the Pharisees had.00;11;27;06 - 00;11;36;29UnknownHe says, don't be like them. Their prayers were me. Prayers. They stood so they could be noticed.00;11;37;01 - 00;11;54;13UnknownYou know when you you know, when you're the pastor of the family, you know, family gatherings, it's I'm there. I'm waiting to eat Thanksgiving dinner just like you are. And then they just look at me and I'm like, well, lead us in prayer. What I want to say. And I don't want family watches my sermon, so they'll be okay with this.00;11;54;15 - 00;12;13;14UnknownWhy don't you pray? I'm like, we can all pray, at least for a meal, right? But they always just look to you, and that's okay. As pastors, we understand we're in the room and they feel like maybe they won't measure up. Well, I want to say to everybody, you can pray just as good as your pastor can. Maybe even better.00;12;13;16 - 00;12;36;13UnknownYou see, we spend a lot of time studying the scriptures, and I do pray while I'm studying, but I sometimes I think, man, did I pray. Oh, waking up this morning going over the sermon so it comes out like I'm not reading it. I do, I do have my notes with me. I'm horrible. If you guys ever ask me for my notes, I almost write everything I'm going to say because I don't want to miss what God wants to teach you through my study.00;12;36;15 - 00;13;02;22UnknownThese prayers, these Pharisees did. They stood and they wanted to be noticed in the prominent places. Jesus said, don't be like them. They weren't kingdom prayers because Jesus tells us in verse five, just like you did in verse two, the earthly reward of praise from people is the final reward. So if you want people to clap and say you did a great job, that's your reward, not in heavenly reward.00;13;02;25 - 00;13;19;20UnknownHe says, I'm not going to receive it. Don't be like them. Verses seven and eight Jesus says, don't babble and be like them. Have you ever heard of the Tower of Babel? They even have an app called Babel. The Tower of Babel was built that they wanted to closer to God. And God said, no, no, no, no, no.00;13;19;26 - 00;13;43;07UnknownAnd he scattered the people all over the earth. And they had all these different languages. And that's why it was they thought of it and nobody understood it. It was just babbling. When you think of, your prayers will be heard because of all the words you said. That's what Jesus said. Jesus says, don't. As soon as you start praying with some other motive in mind, he just says, don't we got to be wise about the truth of God's Word?00;13;43;13 - 00;14;05;15UnknownWe have to the effectiveness of our prayer. So John James 516. This is one of the verses that I would ask you to memorize and put it in your heart. James 516 therefore confess your sins to each other, and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective, and that's what Jesus is saying.00;14;05;18 - 00;14;29;23UnknownDon't you want to have a prayer life that's effective? And he says the the prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective. When I was in seminary, and I probably have used this illustration before, I had, a harmony of the Gospels. That means they took Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and they crunched them all together, and it was what we called an item, which was one week.00;14;29;26 - 00;14;50;19UnknownSo I did an entire semester on the harmony of Gospels in a 40 hour period in one week. My head hurt after that. But as we were going through the Gospels, there are other places that talk about this babbling. And one of the students, the guy whose name was the professor, his name was doctor Earl Ellis. Some commentaries even quote him.00;14;50;19 - 00;15;15;29UnknownNow he's gone on to be with the Lord. But he was in the 70s when I was in school in the 90s. And he said, the student says, so if we pray for salvation for our family members over and over again, is that considered babbling? I thought, man, that's a good question. How many times do we have to ask God to save our spouse, save our kids, save our cousin?00;15;15;29 - 00;15;36;07UnknownRight? How many times do we have to ask him for them to come into Christ? And this guy, remember, he was single and I felt like all he did was download on us for eight hours a day. He was so knowledgeable of the gospels, and he's always sitting behind his notes and his screen, and he looks up like this.00;15;36;09 - 00;16;02;17UnknownWhen that question was asked. So, professor, when we ask the same thing over and over, is that considered babbling? And with tears streaming down his face, he said, I still pray for my high school friends to come to Christ. He was in his 70s. He said, no, that is not what they're talking about. Babbling was these words that made no sense that you were just talking.00;16;02;24 - 00;16;22;01UnknownTo be heard and to be, exposed by the people that were there. And they wanted to know how brilliant you were, how excellent your words were. He said, that's not what this is. If you were your sincere heart, every day you go before God and you pray for your mom and your dad and your kids. That is not babbling.00;16;22;02 - 00;16;30;09UnknownThat's asking God to protect them. Give us this day our daily bread. Amen.00;16;30;12 - 00;16;51;27UnknownHow's your prayer life? Now that I've said all that, how's your prayer life going? Where are you at? Do you find your prayer centered on you or on God? Secondly, kingdom prayers are God centered in verse six says, but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray for pray to your father who is unseen.00;16;52;04 - 00;17;11;14UnknownThen your father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you. And in verses nine through 13 are the famous Lord's Prayer. God centered praying is when we're concerned with issues of the kingdom. Are you concerned with the Kingdom of God? Do you live like you are concerned about the kingdom of God? Do you pray like you're concerned with the Kingdom of God?00;17;11;16 - 00;17;31;22UnknownThe kingdom of God means this God's will be done on this earth as it's going on in the heavenly realms. God will do his will here on this earth. And so that's what our prayers need to be. Of course we pray for healings. Who doesn't want to be healed physically, mentally, spiritually? We do pray for healing. We pray for our jobs.00;17;31;23 - 00;17;51;26UnknownWe pray for our families. We pray for our community. We pray for things of all of that. The real question is, are those prayers kingdom focused? Do you want your job to matter when it comes time for somebody to come to Christ? Do you want your community to be saved? Do you care about your neighbor that you have no idea what's going on?00;17;51;28 - 00;18;18;16UnknownI heard an amazing testimony on Thursday by a guy that went on the mission field for 24 years in Russia, and he came back. He's here in El Paso now. And he said, man, things have changed. He said, I watch people go and they come home from work and they raise that garage door open and they pull in the garage and the garage goes down, never to come out until the next morning of their homes.00;18;18;19 - 00;18;39;27UnknownAnd I was like shrinking back, going, man, how many times have I done that? It seems to be no concern for our immediate community around us, because we're too busy living our media lives inside of our four walls, inside of. And how and churches can do the same thing. Listen, the church is not in here. It's out there.00;18;40;00 - 00;18;58;25UnknownIt's we get motivated and exposed to the gospel, and then we take it out on to our mission field, which is outside of those doors. This is just where we communicate. We come in together and meet together. Are your prayers Kingdom focus? Are you praying for a healing on your health so that you can live a few more years?00;18;58;27 - 00;19;19;05UnknownAre you praying to be healed in your health so that you can serve the kingdom? You see, there's a different type of prayer when you pray that way. You don't need to be healed physically because it's still temporary. You see, these body bodies were never meant to last forever. It would be nice to be healed physically. I've had that done.00;19;19;05 - 00;19;44;21UnknownI know people have had that done, but sometimes it doesn't happen. It's okay. You can still pray so that you can serve God whatever condition you're in. Sometimes the most incapable, physically unhealthy people are the best prayer warriors I've ever met because they may not be able to go and serve physically. But man, they can pray. They pray.00;19;44;24 - 00;20;10;16UnknownYou see, Hezekiah had this prayer that he prayed to God one time and he asked God, let me live for 15 more years. That's not really what the Scripture text says, but he says, so that I can serve you. And God granted his prayer request. You see, Hezekiah could have said, I just want to hang out with my grandkids and hang out with my friends and play video games and get on YouTube and watch Facebook and Instagram.00;20;10;16 - 00;20;32;08UnknownI'm going to do all those things for 15 more years. God. Can you just let me have fun? He didn't say that. He said, God, I want to serve you for 15 more years. And God said, I can use somebody like Hezekiah. Are your prayers kingdom focused? See, when we hear prayers like when God hears our prayers, he says, I reward you.00;20;32;11 - 00;20;59;07UnknownJesus gives us what has been called the Lord's Prayer. The prayer has been recited more than any words in the Bible. John 316 might beat them, but football teams sang before their football games as if they're magic words to protect them, as if God is going to be on their side when they go play. I don't know what it does to people, but when they recite that prayer, it's like something happens spiritually.00;20;59;10 - 00;21;17;01UnknownYou see, even if we did not place these passages on the screen for you and you didn't have access to your Bible, if I said, let's pray the Lord's Prayer in our fall, most of you could recite them without actually knowing where they're at in the Bible, because we got plaques and they're in our services of these words.00;21;17;03 - 00;21;36;02UnknownHow did that come to be? Why is it so famous? What happened? It's because it came from our Lord Jesus. When the disciples asked him, would you teach us to pray? And he said, okay, then pray like this. And so we think just reciting those words is really the prayer. But it's not. He's telling us how to pray through those words.00;21;36;04 - 00;22;00;21UnknownYou hear me? You hear me, church. If you really look into those words, you see they raise the standard so far up that we can be focused on the kingdom of God. So I'm going to go through the words of what is known as the Lord's Prayer. It starts out with our father. God is our father. Jesus said, so he says, we are addressed God with all and authority and all of who he is.00;22;00;28 - 00;22;29;23UnknownHe is the father. Amen. He says, we say our father, not just my father, but our father. Anybody that has a relationship with Christ, he's our father. He's had to be addressed with honor and respect. Where is he? In heaven? Our father, who art in heaven. In heaven? You see, God's throne is not an earthly throne. And don't you ever forget that he is in heaven right now, building a place for us when we depart this earth.00;22;30;00 - 00;22;55;17UnknownWe have to understand that when we pray Kingdom prayers, those prayers do not stay here on the earth. They go up. Our father, who is in heaven. Do you know the address of heaven? I made one up. I'm going to tell you what it is. It's number one. Heaven Avenue, Kingdom city creation 7777. You see, we weren't just sending our prayers anywhere.00;22;55;18 - 00;23;24;02UnknownWe're sending them to a destination. It's heaven. It's called the kingdom of God. Hallowed be thy name. What more can be said about his name? The word hallowed means to be holy or consecrated. Set apart. That's what's happening when we undress. Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. He's so holy. It's amazing that even lets us allows us to address him.00;23;24;04 - 00;23;51;21UnknownAnd I think so many times we are shallow about our address of who our God is. We don't make him holy. It's a holy title. Dear God or dear Lord Jesus, why don't you think we pray everything in Jesus name? Because there's power in the name of Christ. If you ever end your prayer and you don't say in Jesus name, you better go back and redo that prayer because it matters what you pray in.00;23;51;24 - 00;24;09;20UnknownBecause there's a lot of people praying prayers not in Jesus name, but in their own name, in somebody else's name. It's in Jesus name that we have power. Your kingdom come. Your will be done. The real crux of the Kingdom prayer. It's all about his will, his plan, and his purpose for us on this earth. He does have a kingdom.00;24;09;20 - 00;24;35;09UnknownWill for each and every one of us. Are you living that will in your life? On earth as it is in heaven. How do we make God's plan come down to earth? What does that really mean? That's a tough question. What would that look like if there was a heaven on earth? That's been the title of our series leading up to the sermon, Heaven on Earth.00;24;35;11 - 00;24;59;09UnknownHow do we know if we're doing his will? Here it is. Number one, his kingdom means that the issues and the topics we are addressing to our Lord have to do the things with things that are not of this world. I'm not saying that this world doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. But what I am saying is eventually we have to get to the real issues and they're not of this world.00;24;59;11 - 00;25;25;17UnknownHis will in our life there Jesus is death on the cross, his bloodshed. Those are not of this world because they save us from this world. Secondly, for instance, praying for the souls of your friends and family. That's a kingdom prayer. You want your friends and family to come to Jesus, right? For those of you especially that have just given your life to Jesus, now's the time to start praying for your family, because you may be the first Christian in your family.00;25;25;19 - 00;25;45;14UnknownYou may be the first one that really got serious with God, and everybody else is looking to you. What is it that's different about you? That's what's meant by Kingdom being representative here, represented here on Earth. I don't know if you know this, but you're an ambassador for Christ. You know, every country has their ambassadors that represent them all over the globe.00;25;45;20 - 00;26;13;12UnknownWe have ambassadors from other countries that come here. We send ambassadors to other countries. They represent the country that they're from. You are representing Christ here on earth. You're an ambassador for him. Have you ever thought of yourself as a Kingdom ambassador? I think, man, I don't want that title to you. I want to hide it. Listen. Lastly, heavenly, heavenly humans on earth.00;26;13;14 - 00;26;37;11UnknownWe're here as heavenly humans so that others can see what God looks like, what Jesus looks like for his kingdom vision. Give us today our daily bread. So much can be said of this simple request, because it's easy for get to why we're praying in the first place. Amen. It's easy. We forget. We ask God for things.00;26;37;14 - 00;26;58;16UnknownThat we need and not that we want right? Do you guys have any of those want prayers? You just don't know what this will do for my life. God, if I just get the iPhone 16, I'll be able to take better video and take better pictures so I can put them on Facebook so that other people can see.00;26;58;16 - 00;27;20;20UnknownAnd I promise that I'll tag line of scripture text at the bottom of it. Can you help me out? God? I know you don't pray like that. We pray for things that we want more than we need. Is it truly a real prayer? Is things that we need and a way of life. Our wants and desires come across today, as we might consider differently than ten years ago.00;27;20;22 - 00;27;43;20UnknownSo Jesus is reminding us that those are important things, but they're not the main thing. Forgive us our debts. Now this is where we're going to talk a little bit tougher. If you were here last week, there were, you know, there were over 380 people in church last week. My wife and I joked and said they may not all be back next week.00;27;43;20 - 00;27;59;24UnknownAfter that sermon. I said, hey, I'm just preaching the gospel right? Forgive us of our debts when it comes to forgiveness. It's universal. Don't you want to be forgiven?00;27;59;26 - 00;28;16;29UnknownWow. Let me ask that a question. Do you want to be forgiven? We all do. I don't care if you're a Christian or not a Christian. You want forgiveness. You want to know that somebody has said, I forgive you for what you did. Now, you may not know what you did, but just go with it and go. Yes.00;28;17;06 - 00;28;36;08UnknownYou're welcome. We can all be forgiven. That's what we want. That's why we ask God when we confess our sins to him. Would you forgive us, God? So we can be clean. And then we can direct our prayers to kingdom prayers for his will and for our life without this forgiveness. Our relationship with the Heavenly Father is broken.00;28;36;10 - 00;28;59;04UnknownIt's separated from God. You see, there are many Christians, well-meaning Christians that are walking through life in a sinful state, and they still think they can ask God for whatever they need. They have to get right before God. We have to confess our sin so that we can have a right relationship. Look at first John, verses one. First John chapter one, verses eight through ten.00;28;59;06 - 00;29;22;23UnknownBe careful when you say you're not a sinner, okay? If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and he will forgive us of our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.00;29;22;26 - 00;29;44;18UnknownAnd I say to that, ouch! Can God be a liar? I read, then I go. What do you mean, John? We make him out to be a liar. What we're saying is his word really doesn't mean anything in our lives. Really? We're the liars. When we say we haven't sinned, when we don't need forgiveness in our text, in our prayer.00;29;44;18 - 00;30;10;16UnknownAs we have been forgiven our debtors, when when we're able to receive forgiveness or I'm sorry when we're able to receive forgiveness and give forgiveness. That's a mature sign of the follower of Christ. When you're able to give forgiveness the way you see, that's when transformation happens. When you forgive others. You got somebody in your life that you need to ask for forgiveness.00;30;10;19 - 00;30;33;02UnknownDon't say their name out loud right now. We all have those people in our life that we just kind of think, well, in time, it'll just heal. In time, it'll go away. We need to ask for forgiveness. And lead us not into temptation. This is a daily reminder that the spiritual world is always in play. Satan doesn't want you to pray.00;30;33;04 - 00;30;51;17UnknownHe wants you to pray. Earthly prayers and not kingdom prayers. He wants you to focus on me. Prayers in our kingdom. Prayers. See, we constantly have to ask Jesus for his will to be done to combat the devil's will. You see, the devil is tricky, isn't he? He. You know, it's the last part says deliver us from the evil one.00;30;51;20 - 00;31;14;20UnknownWe need God's divine protection over our lives. The enemy has tricks and schemes and shenanigans, I call him. You know, he's always trying to say no. That really didn't happen. You know, you really don't need to do that. No, your wife doesn't need to pray. Pray. Prayed over right now. She's always telling us lies. Since the first family was created, Satan tried to get in between Adam and Eve.00;31;14;22 - 00;31;37;04UnknownAnd he told the devil, told Eve this lie. And he said, God really didn't mean for you not to do that. Not to eat from that tree, right? He didn't really say that. Come on. He was afraid if you did that, you would be like him. Now, if Eve would have been on her toes and Adam would have been there protecting her.00;31;37;06 - 00;31;59;01UnknownWhat she could have said is, I know that I'm creating an image of my. My creator. I'm creating an image of my God. And what you're saying is a lie. If God doesn't want me to be in this place, partaking in this thing, then I shouldn't do it. I shouldn't have to question it. But here's Satan flipped it around and says he was afraid that you'd be like him.00;31;59;03 - 00;32;27;03UnknownWe already are like him when we're created in his image. You see, are you praying for Kingdom? The kingdom to come into your life? Are you satisfied with your earthly lifestyle? God really does care what you pray for. I know that personally and I know that you know that personally. Lastly, kingdom prayers lead to forgiveness. Now, I find this ironic that the disciples ask for teach us to pray.00;32;27;05 - 00;32;54;16UnknownHe gives them this list, stops that we could easily stop at verse 13. But then Jesus adds these two verses or this statement under the end of the Lord's Prayer. And many times when we pray the Lord's Prayer, we don't pray these two, two verses. We're going to stop at 13 or you forgive another if you give after you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly father will also forgive you.00;32;54;18 - 00;33;17;06UnknownBut if you do not forgive others their sins, your father will not forgive your sins. Why don't we say that when we say the Lord's Prayer? It goes together. You see, Jesus addresses forgiveness. This agenda again and again. But this time it just seems a little harsh. Jesus, you just said this is how you pray. And then he's after the prayer.00;33;17;08 - 00;33;38;18UnknownBut he didn't end there for then and there for the prayer there. I'm tongue tied this morning. He kept on going and he said, let's talk about forgiveness. Now that you know how to pray. Now that you talk about the Kingdom, see, forgiveness comes with the ultimate price forgiven in order to be forgiven, forgive in order to be forgiven.00;33;38;18 - 00;34;07;08UnknownWhen you receive forgiveness from God, he's created the system that cannot be overlooked. Our sin is tied to everything. Everything we do is tied to God. That's why this prayer is so important, is so important. Jesus really wants us to truly understand the way of forgiveness works. We can't expect to receive forgiveness from God.00;34;07;11 - 00;34;37;24UnknownAnd then turn and hold grudges towards other people. It doesn't work that way. See the statement again. It seems harsh, but it's got to be said. Jesus wants the kingdom to be real in our lives. When we choose to forgive, rerelease the chains of unforgiveness in our lives. Amen. I'm a famous psychiatrist once said this if he could convince patients in his psychiatric hospitals that their sins are forgiven.00;34;37;26 - 00;34;58;20Unknown75% of them could walk out the next day. You see, people don't believe that their sins can be forgiven. They don't believe that there is a Jesus in heaven. That saying, I came to do this for you. In order for you to live a life of forgiveness, people just don't believe that God would ever forgive them of the things that they've done.00;34;58;23 - 00;35;11;18UnknownBut the Bible is very clear that he can do that for you. You see, I are your prayers one sided when it comes to forgiveness? God forgive them for what they've done against me.00;35;11;20 - 00;35;31;04UnknownNot what I've done against them, but what they've done against me. That's really what our prayers mount up to. Ask God to forgive those long lasting, unforgiving hearts in order to heal our hearts. Amen. And your prayer life. And our prayer life. We have to learn what the father wants to do with us, to give him opportunity to do it.00;35;31;07 - 00;35;54;25UnknownWe have to ask God. He wants us to pray about his name, his kingdom and his will, his name, his kingdom and his will. So I'm going to break those three things down and then we'll close. His name? It's his name that must be known. I know we live in a age of is. You know, we want to get as famous as possible.00;35;54;28 - 00;36;25;15UnknownHow many likes, followers, watches, whatever. I just I'm amazed that that's the most important thing in people's lives. I mean, it's just like you never believe or they didn't like my post. They didn't follow me on Instagram or TikTok or whatever you do. You see, he wants to reveal himself to you in a fresh, new way. He wants things to happen on earth in his people because it's his kingdom.00;36;25;18 - 00;36;49;14UnknownHis name must not be abused. Hallowed be thy name. Remember, we cannot say JK when you get mad. We cannot say OMG when you get mad. And I know people use it as a funny, but it's not. When we know the real God. The other things don't measure up when we know God to be manifest on Sundays, not just present because he's here.00;36;49;16 - 00;37;15;13UnknownManifestation means that he's working in your life. You see, God's presence is always with us. He's here. But is it alive and well in your life? Is it working in your life? You see? He's here. Lord, show us who you are is what we should be proclaiming. Make God profound in order for heaven on earth. And secondly, his kingdom.00;37;15;20 - 00;37;39;26UnknownAsk God to act in such a way that our relationship would be a reality and not just a theory. We like to theorize God a lot in our lives. Know he's real. I'm a changed life. I hope you are too. I'm a life that's like I always go. How what? I mean. We were listening to some old school music this morning.00;37;39;26 - 00;38;06;15UnknownWorship music? And, back in the day and in the 90s, we used to go to this conferences called Promise Keepers. And it was all these men singing to God and praising God and ministering to one another. And and one of the things we do is a lot of times it causes us to, to cry during some of that music because it reminds us of how powerful God has been in our lives, and not tears of sadness, but tears of joy.00;38;06;15 - 00;38;28;08UnknownTo say, God, you are so amazing that you would allow us to be part of your kingdom. That you would allow us to represent you while we're here on earth. And I, you bring this, this emotion of joy over our lives. See, God's providence is what rules this world. The supreme example is the cross. If we knew God's will, what would we submit to it?00;38;28;10 - 00;38;53;10UnknownIs my question. If you knew what God's will was for your life, would you submit to it? So here's this will. It's a communication from God that we understand his will, which is perfect. His will be done in me and my family, my church, my pastor that's coming next week in my nation and in my world. We would never be okay with the world doing its own thing.00;38;53;17 - 00;39;09;09UnknownUnder the persuasion of the satanic demons that are here, God is super concerned about this world. He's concerned about his name, his kingdom, and his will. First.00;39;09;11 - 00;39;33;09UnknownSo before we close this service, maybe your prayer life is anemic. What that means is it's weak. You do a lot of good things, but the communication between you and God is just not as strong as it should be. Change that this morning. So you know what? I'm going to do something about it today. I don't know how that starts, but it can start by praying the simple prayer.00;39;33;11 - 00;39;54;21UnknownGod, your kingdom come in my life. So that can be your ambassador while I'm here. I'm not going to do everything perfect, but I'm going to try as much as I can to spend time with you. Yes, it's great to open the Word of God. It's great to do Bible studies. I've got tons of life groups to go to, but there has to be a communion that you and God alone get together.00;39;54;23 - 00;40;16;22UnknownYou see, why do we every every week, we ask people to come to the altar to make decisions for Christ, to reconnect with Christ, to maybe surrender to something that God's asking of you could be ministry or missions or even who knows what that is. And time after time, maybe you've never come. You said, I don't really know what I would say.00;40;16;24 - 00;40;40;17UnknownYou don't have to say anything. Just sit before God and let him wash over you and he'll give you the words he. Romans eight is one of the most powerful chapters in the Bible. He says nothing's ever going to separate us from the love of God, not even life or death. It says in there. And right before that, in verse 26, it says, we don't know what in Romans 826, we don't know what to say.00;40;40;20 - 00;41;09;20UnknownAnd he says, don't worry, I'll give you the words. They come as mornings and groanings and things that may be not understandable, but you sit before God and you just bare your soul and say, God, clean me. Make me a new. Refresh my spirit. I want to know you in a more intimate way. So this morning, as we have this time of what we call an invitation, I'm asking you to come.00;41;09;23 - 00;41;31;13UnknownSome of you still need salvation. You saw those that had stood at giving their life to Jesus. And maybe you haven't been able to do that. You can do that this morning and afterwards. We have a prayer room over there that you can stop by and say, pastor, I did it. Finally, today, I gave my heart to Jesus and we'll celebrate with you the next time baptism comes along.00;41;31;20 - 00;41;58;22UnknownYou could be one of them. Whatever God wants to do in your life, say, just say God. I'm ready. I'm ready. Would you not be afraid today? And you come maybe. Maybe this morning. You're just come and pray for your pastor. That's coming. Pastor Derek needs your prayers. No pastor can do anything alone. We need the help of everybody.00;41;58;25 - 00;42;29;09UnknownSo would you just come and pray for him? Whatever God wants to do in your life this morning, you come. Father, we thank you for this opportunity that we have to come for this public invitation, Lord, that we can say yes to you. We sang it earlier and say, yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. So this morning I pray for those that need a saving knowledge of who you are, that they would confess you as their Lord, that they would repent of their sins and turn from their wicked ways and turn towards you.00;42;29;14 - 00;42;45;01UnknownAnd for those that have don't have a prayer life or a weak prayer life that they would, some come and sit before you and say, God, speak to me so that I can pray that communicate better with you, God and Father. For those that have an unforgiving heart.00;42;45;03 - 00;42;57;22UnknownFather, I pray that you would break them this morning. Mold them into the man or woman or child that you want them to be. We ask this in Jesus name. Would you stand?
