Listen "103. Do You See What I See: Lisa Haukom"
Episode Synopsis
Many capture moments, but few capture the essence of who you are. Lisa Haukom believes the camera is more than just a tool for social media snapshots. Lisa is a photographer and self-acceptance advocate on a mission to create a global movement. Through her transformative Self-Portrait Method program, workshops, and upcoming book, You Are Golden, she empowers individuals to embrace their authentic selves by confronting vulnerability, sharing their truth, and harnessing the unshakeable bravery to be themselves—all through the powerful lens of self-portraiture.
A dedicated advocate for inclusivity, Lisa’s studio offers free photo sessions to transgender youth, and The Self-Portrait Method is designed to serve people of all communities, identities, and genders. Lisa lives in the Pacific Northwest and Los Angeles with her family and their two rescued border collies.
In this episode, Nada talks with Lisa about The Golden Brand and how her coursework and community help women develop unshakable self-confidence. Lisa started as a brand strategist and quickly found a passion for photography and portrait work, which she now uses to help her clients find their authentic selves. The two discuss Lisa’s process of re-training our brains to see what we actually look like, confronting the masks we try to hide behind, and learning to love ourselves internally and externally.
Check out Lisa’s website for more information on her coursework and upcoming book. And see what she’s reading: The Charisma Myth by Olivia Fox Cabane, The Bombay Cafe Cookbook, and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. Follow on Instagram: @thegoldenbrandco and @thehouseatgibslanding
