Today’s word of the day is rumpus.

Nouns are words that we use to name things. It can be a person, a place, a thing, an idea or concept. Therefore, rumpus is a noun.

A rumpus is a noisy disturbance or a row.

An example of rumpus used in a sentence would be:

There was a huge rumpus down the street, it looked like a man and a woman were fighting over a parking space.

Or, The clumsy boy caused a huge rumpus in the library when he tripped and knocked a bookshelf over.

Synonyms: disturbance, commotion, uproar, brouhaha, riot.

Antonyms: calm, harmony, order, peace, tranquillity.
