Today’s word of the day is obliterate.

Obliterate is a doing word therefore it is a verb.

Obliterate has three meanings. Firstly it is to destroy utterly or wipe out. Secondly it is to make something invisible or indistinct. Lastly it is to cancel something to prevent further use.

An example of the word obliterate used in a sentence would be:

Dinosaurs had no idea that a giant asteroid would hit Earth and obliterate them.

I think those clouds are going to drift this way and obliterate the sun soon, so it will get cool.

Or, You can put a cross over a postage stamp to obliterate it.

Synonyms: destroy, annihilate, exterminate, demolish, cancel.

Antonyms: create, establish, generate, assemble, conceive.
