Today’s word of the day is infrastructure.

Nouns are words that we use to name things. It can be a person, a place, a thing, an
idea or concept. Therefore, infrastructure is a noun.

Infrastructure is the basic physical and organisational structures and facilities that are needed for the operation of a society or enterprise. Buildings, roads and power supplies are examples of essential structures. Banking systems, law systems and welfare systems are examples of essential organisational structures.

An example of the word infrastructure used in a sentence would be:

It's a really old city so the infrastructure of the roads is in dire need of repair.

Or, They need to implement a new social infrastructure to support the large amount of refugees.
